As we are not a big hotel and only welcome three families at a time, we are able to offer a friendly, personal service with all the facilities and equipment you will need to make the most of your holiday.
We have renovated our beautiful grade two listed 15th century farmhouse with our young visitors in mind. Although the oak panelling in the hall, wonderful granite fireplaces and Celtic crosses in the garden hint at the history of the house, your children will think that they have gone to stay in a toy shop!
Downstairs we have a large lounge exclusively for the use of our guests. Leading from the lounge is a further room for jigsaw and track building enthusiasts! Leading from this room you will find the baby kitchen, fully equipped with a microwave for warming baby feeds, ample storage and a fridge (often containing more beer and wine than baby milk!). Adjacent is a downstairs toilet with post-animal-feeding hand-washing facilities and vital wellie boot and coat storage. A door leads from the baby kitchen to the old farmyard play area.
Breakfast, nursery teas and suppers are all served in our granite-walled dining room which also leads off the jigsaw room and overlooks the old farm yard too. Booster seats, high chairs and children’s cutlery are all available.
Our three family rooms (Wisteria, Big Meadow and Garden View) are upstairs and overlook the gardens and play areas. All our rooms are slightly different and the one you choose will depend on the number of children you have, your bathroom requirements and your budget.
All our rooms have sofas or armchairs, televisions with freeview, toys, cd players with story CDs, books, tea and coffee making facilities and all the specialist baby equipment you require. Your children can sleep in cots or hand-made miniature beds with bed guards if you wish. Towels and cot bedding are provided, along with baby baths, changing mats, bath toys, potties and toddler steps. Our rooms are designed to meet the needs of families with children 5 and under. Please say if you are bringing older brothers and sisters, as normal single beds can be provided.
Wisteria also offers a separate children’s bedroom which is adjacent to the main bedroom and which sleeps up to three children. It has specially designed miniature bunk beds and a further bed or cot.
We have recently refurbished Big Meadow and it now boasts beautiful miniature oak bunk beds and a kingsize cast iron bed, as well as its lovely big bathroom. There is a folding oak partition wall that separates the children’s bedroom from the adult bedroom if required.
The whole house is cleaned from top to bottom on a daily basis. Bedrooms are usually cleaned while breakfast is being served, so that you do not have to change your routine if your baby or toddler has a morning sleep. If you choose to have a lazy day on the farm, then you will be welcome to stay and play all day – something your children will be nattering to do. So make a coffee, find a comfy place to sit and revel in the peace that goes with happy busy children!
