We would love to welcome you and your children to our working farm, where since 1997 our aim has been to to provide all the necessary ingredients for a totally relaxing and happy farm holiday, whatever the weather!

Having four children of our own, we have spent a long time trying to find the perfect family holiday – fairly easy with older children but a near impossibility with pre-schoolers! Our requirements were simple, we thought – family bedrooms with ensuite facilities and a television with freeview to buy a little extra time in bed, or for when it rains; toys for the children to play with so we could relax and unwind, and safe outdoor play areas with interesting play equipment. Add nursery teas and baby sitting, by someone the children knew and liked (to enable us to escape for a night out on our own) and we would have the perfect holiday. This is where the idea began, and is exactly what we are able offer you plus much more….

As we specialise in meeting the needs of families with pre-school children, we require that all our guests have one baby or child under 7 (older brothers and sisters are very welcome too!). You’ll then find that you never have to worry about your child crying or disturbing the other guests since everyone will know exactly how you feel!

We aim to provide all the equipment, facilities, and toys you will need, enabling you to travel light and not arrive totally exhausted.

On your arrival, we will take you on a Tractor and Trailer tour of our herd, followed by High Tea for all the family in our farmhouse dining room. Then you can collapse (you won't have room for any more food today!) unwind and enjoy a glass of wine in the summer sunshine. Or, if the weather is not so glorious in the Spring or Autumn, snuggle up in front of a log fire in the lounge while your children play.

Every morning we feed our animals with the help of our small visitors. The most favourite activity is always feeding the chickens, ducks and geese, and collecting the eggs! If you time your visit right you could also be bottle-feeding lambs, or watching chicks and ducklings hatch – all experiences your children will talk about long after their farm holiday is over.

Add this to our two farm-themed play areas, walks in our woods or along our private stretch of river, and you may never want to leave….

Eco-friendly Higher Lank Farm actively supports low food miles, British produce, real nappies and recycling to reduce landfill waste and provides the perfect working farm holiday for families with babies, toddlers and young children, and especially with twins and triplets. We're so green, we have our own Biomass Boiler system, fuelled with locally sourced wood (and from our own woodlands as from 2014!).
