Higher Lank Farm
Food at Higher Lank Farm
Higher Lank Farm has been awarded an impressive 5 stars (top marks!) under the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme
Food at Higher Lank Farm is prepared to order from scratch with the best ingredients Lucy is able to buy! The menu changes daily to accommodate the needs of our guests and seasonal availability. We enjoy catering for special diets and people with food allergies. Read what a recent visitor has to say about her experience with her severely allergic child. In particular, we specialise in cooking dairy and gluten free food for your babies, toddlers and small children and their parents too. Despite being a beef farm, we welcome vegetarians (Lucy was one until she married Andrew!). All our food is home-made with, wherever possible, local ingredients. The only exception is our ice-cream which comes from Roskilly Farm.
Welcome Family High Tea is served on the first night of your holiday following a Tractor and Trailer ride to visit our herd of Limousin and Devon cross cows and calves and our Limousin bull, Simon.
Supper is available Monday and Wednesday* with a Farewell Supper on Friday evenings.
Nursery teas are served on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday* and Friday nights at 5.30pm. All teas are home-made and are varied to meet the eating requirements of our current smaller visitors.
Nursery teas – often include the following:
All nursery teas are varied daily to reflect the likes and dislikes of the babies, toddlers and small children staying. We have a no chips policy, as you can get these anywhere!! But are happy to cook anything else. Just ask.
As traditional English farmers, we believe that the food we serve you should be produced locally, in order to conserve the beautiful environment in which we live, keep food miles to the minimum and support our local community.
The food we cook for you is, whenever possible, produced on the farm ourselves or produced by nearby farms and delivered to us. The beef we serve is from our suckler herd and the pork from our Saddlebacks. All our animals have a high quality of life, as you will see during your stay, and are reared outdoors. And of course, eggs are from our own free-range chickens.
We grow seasonal fruit and vegetables in our vegetable garden, greenhouse and orchard. Although we are not registered organic, we use no fertilizers or chemicals in the production of our fruit and vegetables and only very limited amounts of fertilizer on our fields. We participate in the Countryside Stewardship scheme.
All our apple juice is delivered to us by Cornish Orchards and our clotted cream comes from Trewithen Farm. Our bacon and chicken comes from Button Meats, who source their products locally, and our ice-cream is supplied by Roskillys, another diversified Cornish farm.
We use organic produce, when produced in this country or in Europe, but never purchase air freighted goods. We believe that it is better to buy local produce from a known source than imported organic fruit and vegetables. We are committed to only buying British meat.
Eco-friendly Higher Lank Farm actively supports allergy-friendly food and activities for babies, toddlers, children and their parents, low food miles, British produce, real nappies and recycling to reduce landfill waste and provides the perfect working farm holiday for families with babies, toddlers and young children, and especially with twins and triplets. We're so green, we have our own Biomass Boiler system, fuelled with locally sourced wood (and from our own woodlands as from 2014!).
All of Higher Lank Farm is NO SMOKING, allergy-friendly and exclusively for families with small children
