Nursery Rhyme Barns - Self Catering Accommodation

Situated near the farmhouse, but with their own private gardens and parking, The Nursery Rhyme Barns are the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of town or city life.
The first of our barn conversions, Bo Peep Cottage opened on 30 July 2005, with our second, Humpty Dumpty Cottage, completed for the summer of 2011.

In order to cater for the needs of families with small children, both barns have stair gates, fire and cooker guards, cots, miniature beds, changing stations, baby monitors, night lights, baby baths and toys, highchairs and booster seats, childrens’ cutlery and age-graded books, toys, games and jigsaws. We also have further travel cots and bassinets available on request.

As both barns are specifically for the use of families with children under 11 we ask that guests agree to our no smoking policy. You are however welcome to smoke in the cottage garden.

Bo Peep Cottage
Sleeps up to four adults and five children.

To take advantage of the magnificent views over the Camel Valley, Bo Peep Cottage is an upside down house.

Open the garden gate to a private garden with outdoor furniture, decking and a barbecue with its own supply of fresh herbs!

Leading off from this is a separate childrens’ play area with its own toddler proof gate, ride on toys and a sandpit.

The garden path leads to an arched front door on the ground floor which comprises:

The Master Bedroom with its king size cast iron bed, rocking nursing chair, beautiful furniture, and flat screen TV with freeview, has an adjoining nursery. The nursery has its own basin, changing station, cot and baby equipment.

Large family bathroom with a bath and shower. Leading to a doored area with washing machine and tumble drier.

Children’s bedroom sleeping up to three children in cots or beds. Equipped with CD player, story CDs, and a plentiful supply of toys.

Stairs leading to the first floor where you will find:

Third bedroom with twin or a super king bed and an ensuite shower room.

Fully fitted and equipped kitchen/diner with fridge/freezer, microwave, with steriliser, expresso machine, full size hob and oven and dining table with adult and childrens’ chairs.

Large lounge with woodburning stove, comfortable sofas, wide screen TV with freeview, DVD and CD players, plentiful books, games and childrens’ toys.

From the first floor granite steps lead down to a courtyard with a washing line and recycling bins.

The cottage has underfloor heating throughout and wood is provided for the wood burning stove. All towels and linen are provided and will be included in the rental charge. A Monday - Friday chambermaiding service can also be booked if required.

Babysitting is available, but it is advisable to book when you reserve your holiday if you require specific nights. We have a number of very good, reliable babysitters – mostly with children of their own. Payment is made direct to the babysitter. Humpty Dumpty Cottage (completed April 2011)
Humpty Dumpty Cottage is designed to sleep a family of either two adults, three children in beds and three children in cots OR three adults*, two children in beds and three children in cots. (*One adult to share children's room.) Humpty Dumpty is the ultimate place to stay if you have twins, triplets, or lots of small children. Its large vaulted ceilinged Master bedroom has uninterrupted views over the countryside from its beautiful arched window, and its own nursery with three of everything .

There is a family bathroom, and separate wet room, childrens’ bedroom, spacious lounge and wonderfully big kitchen diner with doors opening on to a decked garden eating area. It also has its own private toddler-proof children’s area , so you will be able to relax in the knowledge that your children are safe and happy.

You can place an order with cornishfoodmarket.co.uk, food4myholiday.com (both of these sell local produce) Tesco, Sainsburys or Asda online and request delivery between 4-5pm on your arrival date, giving the address of your cottage.

Eco-friendly Higher Lank Farm actively supports low food miles, British produce, real nappies and recycling to reduce landfill waste and provides the perfect working farm holiday for families with babies, toddlers and young children, and especially with twins and triplets. We're so green, we have our own Biomass Boiler system, fuelled with locally sourced wood (and from our own woodlands as from 2014!).
